Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Harris Fetner, age 94 of Ashland, will be Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Ashland with Rev. Bruce Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Fetner passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native and life-long resident of Clay County, she had worked for several years at Emory’s 5 & 10 Cent Store and then served as bookkeeper for the Pace Brothers’ firm. Mrs. Fetner retired from Russell Manufacturing where she had worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland and the WMU and also volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Clay County Hospital. Mrs. Fetner was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to work outside and do yard work but above all enjoyed weeding and cultivating her flower garden.
Mrs. Fetner is survived by her daughter, Jean Larry (Doug) of Talladega; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Fetner of Ashland; three sisters: Ruth Gardner and Sue Fowler (Billy), both of Lineville and Sara Tidwell of Pensacola, Florida as well as six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Calvin Jefferson Harris and Cornelia White Harris; her husband of 58 years, Orin Leland Fetner; her son, Dean Fetner, along with four sisters and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Steve Gilliland, Alex Larry, Andrew Larry, Jeff Larry, Todd Larry, Don Fulbright, Jimmy Allen and Larry Fetner. Staff of the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Ashland on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
